The Easy Zakat, Sadaqah, and Waqf (EZ-ZAWAF) system represents an innovative digital transformation aimed at enhancing the management and governance of zakat, sadaqah, and waqf at public universities (UA) in Malaysia. Initiated in response to the unprecedented challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, this initiative seeks to modernize traditional management practices through the integration of a hybrid digital platform. EZ-ZAWAF facilitates the efficient online collection of zakat, sadaqah, and waqf, while simultaneously strengthening the mechanisms for their transparent implementation and monitoring. The system supports a transition from conventional to fully digital processes, ensuring that the management of these Islamic financial instruments is carried out with greater integrity, synergy, and accountability. A key feature of this innovation is its outcome-based evaluation framework, which is aligned with the principles of Maqasid Shariah and the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This alignment ensures that the objectives of social justice, equity, and sustainable development are achieved through the effective use of zakat, sadaqah, and waqf resources. By streamlining operations and improving user experience, EZ-ZAWAF offers a scalable and replicable model for public universities across Malaysia. Furthermore, it holds potential as a benchmark for adoption by State Islamic Religious Councils (SIRCs), reinforcing a national-level transformation in Islamic philanthropic management.
