In addressing the persistent respiratory symptoms following COVID-19, this project introduces an innovative herbal cough syrup formulated with clove and star anise. Harnessing the natural antiviral, expectorant, and anti-inflammatory properties of these botanicals, the formulation aims to offer an alternative to conventional synthetic treatments. Using premium Hexa-grade clove and star anise powders, combined with excipients such as glycerin, peppermint oil, and citric acid, the syrup was developed to optimize efficacy, taste, and stability. Comprehensive quality evaluations, including viscosity, pH, density, surface tension, antimicrobial activity, and visual stability tests, demonstrated the formulation’s robustness. Findings revealed favorable results, including an ideal viscosity (23.0 cP), suitable acidity (pH 4.36), excellent microbial resistance, and stability over 21 days. This herbal innovation presents a promising therapeutic solution for post-viral coughs, while promoting a sustainable and holistic approach to respiratory care by blending traditional botanical knowledge with scientific validation.
