This innovation project, titled Vallara Bites: An Innovative Approach to Enhance Learning, aims to address common learning challenges among primary school students through the introduction of a nutritious traditional snack, Biskut Vallara. The project was developed as a creative solution to improve memory retention, focus, and student engagement in academic activities.
The study identified key issues such as a lack of confidence, poor mastery of reading, writing, and arithmetic skills (3R), truancy, and frequent forgetting of learned materials. The primary focus was to address the memory retention problem, especially among students from underprivileged B40 families.
Vallara Bites, made from Vallara leaves known for their cognitive-enhancing properties, was formulated to provide a natural and practical solution to improve learning outcomes. The SCAMPER method was used to innovate the production and application of the biscuits as a learning tool.
Findings from the study showed a significant improvement in students' academic performance and engagement after consuming Vallara Bites. Students exhibited better focus, improved memory retention, and enhanced confidence in their learning abilities.
This project highlights the potential of integrating health and nutrition into education strategies to foster better learning environments. Vallara Bites offers a sustainable and innovative solution to educational challenges and can be further developed and scaled for broader educational applications.
