The accurate positioning of a patient in diagnostic radiography is a fundamental yet notoriously difficult task that directly determines the quality of the resulting clinical image. X-Guide AI addresses the chronic challenge of inaccurate patient positioning by integrating standard optical camera hardware with advanced AI-driven Pose Estimation models. In current clinical practice, even a minor deviation such as a slight shoulder tilt or pelvic rotation can lead to "artifact" distortions and suboptimal images that lack diagnostic value. This issue is critical to resolve because poor positioning necessitates "retakes," which directly results in patients receiving a higher cumulative dose of ionizing radiation than medically required, while also causing severe bottlenecks in hospital workflows. X-Guide AI operates by utilizing a standard high-definition webcam or a small CCTV unit mounted strategically on the X-ray machine's collimator to capture a live feed of the patient's external anatomy. By leveraging deep-learning algorithms, the software identifies critical anatomical landmarks such as the head, shoulders, chest and hips in real-time. It then calculates the alignment angles and provides an intuitive "digital guide" for the radiographer to follow. This innovation provides a non-invasive, contactless solution that replaces the need for expensive physical sensors or manual tactile palpation, which can often be uncomfortable for the patient. By ensuring the patient is perfectly aligned before the exposure is made, the system adheres strictly to the ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principle of radiation protection. Ultimately, X-Guide AI democratizes advanced medical tracking technology for smaller clinics and educational environments, ensuring that diagnostic precision is achievable regardless of a facility’s equipment budget or the radiographer's level of experience.
