Malaysia experiences floods almost every year. Communities in several states are affected, with many residents—especially senior citizens and people with disabilities—facing challenges in mobility and limited access to safety tools. Relying solely on individual strength, environmental conditions, or resource availability is not a practical solution.

To address this, the Community Floating Sling Raft (RATK) has been developed as a modular, environmentally friendly, and safe transport option for senior citizens and people with disabilities. RATK is constructed using recycled plastic drums and supported by pontoons. A sling fabric is mounted on a strong frame, enabling it to withstand minimal weight pressure, float effectively, and be deployed during rescue operations.

The objective of this project is to provide low-cost transportation for vulnerable groups, enhancing preparedness and reducing risks during flood disasters. Its uniqueness lies in the swing-inspired design, combined with a sturdy platform built from recycled materials. The raft can be assembled without specialized tools, offering flexibility for use in households, communities, and environmental institutions.

By enabling the safe transfer of people in need, RATK responds to local challenges while promoting sustainability through recycled materials. Both local and international research support is essential to strengthen this innovation and address gaps in safety infrastructure. Ultimately, this project offers a replicable model that enhances durability and resilience in disaster response.
