Road traffic accidents in Malaysia have become a major concern, with driver fatigue and drowsiness identified as leading contributors to the rising number of cases and fatalities. This research focuses on designing and developing a low-cost, reliable, and real-time alert system aimed at enhancing road safety by detecting driver drowsiness and providing immediate warnings to prevent accidents. This paper presents a review of the research and project development conducted in the field of computer engineering for driver drowsiness detection. It discusses the results and solutions related to the limited implementation of various techniques introduced throughout the project. Additionally, the real-world application of the system is evaluated to understand its effectiveness and identify potential improvements for greater utility. The observations made by the authors offer insights for further optimization, aiming to achieve better system efficiency and contribute to safer road conditions.
