US178: FOODSAVER

TAN ROU LIN Peninsula College Georgetown

Food waste is a serious issue in Malaysia’s food service industry, causing financial losses and environmental pollution. Currently, no dedicated platform lets restaurants offer unsold food at lower prices within a limited time. This project introduces FoodSaver, a web-based food rescue application designed to minimize waste while allowing users to purchase surplus food at discounted prices. It connects vendors with consumers and includes a Blind Box Reward feature to encourage participation and promote sustainable behavior. Developed using Agile methodology, the system passed functional and performance testing. FoodSaver offers a practical, engaging, and localized solution to reduce waste and make food more affordable.
