Earmuff is a safety equipment that is created to protect human hearing from loud noise. Human ears can detect noise frequencies from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, which is not more than 20 decibels. Therefore, if our ears are exposed to a higher sound frequency of more than 20,000 Hz, it might damage our eardrums and cause hearing loss. Hearing loss is very common in industrial construction and warehousing industries where the job deals with noisy heavy equipment. Eardrum damage is caused by sounds that travel through the ear canal amplifies the hearing. That is why earmuffs are created. It is to protect our ears from direct sound and induced hearing loss due to loud noise.Hence, nowadays, workers have to wear earmuffs if exposed to noise at or above 85 decibels (dB) averaged over 8 working hours, or an 8-hour time-weighted average (TWA) required to wear earmuffs as instructed by OSHA the employers to implement a hearing conservation program.
