The constraints caused by the damaged existing tensile testing machine, together with its high maintenance cost, have affected the implementation of practical activities in teaching and learning. This situation has prevented students from conducting actual experiments, forcing them to rely only on observing specimens from previous experiments or online simulations, which provide limited direct learning experience. Therefore, an innovative teaching aid known as the Mini Tensile Test Machine was developed to overcome this problem. This innovation was designed in a simple, low-cost, and user-friendly form, enabling students to carry out tensile tests independently in a hands-on manner without requiring an industrial-scale machine. The development of this tool emphasized aspects of safety, usability, and the ability to practically demonstrate basic concepts such as stress, strain, and material failure points. The results of using the Mini Tensile Test Machine showed improvements in students’ understanding of the concepts learned, while also increasing their interest, active participation, and psychomotor skills. However, there are still some limitations that can be improved in the future, such as its suitability only for testing materials with low strength values, such as plastics and light alloys, due to the limited motor power capacity. In conclusion, this innovation has successfully provided an effective alternative to the constraints of existing equipment and supports an experiential learning approach in the technical field.
