Physical RFID campus access cards frequently cause disruptions through loss or damage. While Android Host Card Emulation (HCE) appears to be a viable replacement, technical constraints prevent it from emulating hardware-level unique identifiers required by commercial readers. To overcome this, this project develops a customized authentication environment. A smartphone application captures a legitimate card’s identifier and transmits it as application data via APDU commands. A custom reader, utilizing an ESP32 microcontroller and PN532 reader module, receives and validates this data against a secure whitelist. This system provides reliable, smartphone-based access while bypassing the inherent limitations of standard mobile card emulation.
