The Aqueous-Soluble Upcycled Renewable Alternative (A.U.R.A) Wrap is a biodegradable and water-soluble floral wrapping paper designed as a sustainable replacement for single-use plastic bouquet wraps widely used in the floristry industry. This innovation was developed in response to growing environmental concerns caused by plastic pollution and landfill accumulation. The main objective is to reduce dependency on petroleum-based materials by offering a functional, eco-friendly and educational alternative that supports green practices and enhances community awareness. The A.U.R.A Wrap is formulated from polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) blended with upcycled banana peel powder and other natural additives creating a product that is both environmentally safe and suitable for floral design applications. Its significance lies not only in its environmental impact but also in its educational value, empowering students through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to develop innovative solutions to real-world sustainability challenges. Performance evaluations confirmed its functional quality and environmental safety, with complete dissolution in hot stirred water within 5 minutes and full biodegradation under composting conditions within 5 weeks. A user evaluation with 15 Floral Design students yielded consistently high ratings across five constructs: Ease of Use (M = 4.89), Aesthetic Appeal (M = 4.88), Environmental Awareness (M = 4.87), Preference Compared to Plastic Wrap (M = 4.83) and Overall Satisfaction (M = 4.90). Respondents praised its flexibility, smooth texture and strong environmental value, indicating both practical and emotional acceptance of the product. The innovation has high replicability due to its low-cost ingredients, simple fabrication method and integration potential in both school-based and commercial floristry settings. Its implementation promotes responsible consumption, supports SDG 12 and introduces a circular economy mindset within youth and vocational communities. With proven performance, educational alignment and the potential for local production and community-scale adoption, the A.U.R.A Wrap serves as a socially impactful innovation that contributes to environmental well-being, strengthens sustainability education and inspires creative green entrepreneurship among future-ready learners.
