Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) education plays an important role in preparing students to recognise workplace hazards, assess risks, and apply appropriate safety measures in real working environments. However, traditional teaching methods that rely heavily on lectures and theoretical explanations often limit student engagement and reduce the effectiveness of learning outcomes. Many students find it difficult to visualise real workplace risks and apply OSH concepts practically. Therefore, there is a need for innovative teaching approaches that enhance student interaction and practical understanding of safety management. This study introduces RiskWise, an interactive teaching and learning innovation designed to improve students’ understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment, and workplace safety practices. RiskWise integrates digital learning elements such as scenario-based simulations, hazard recognition activities, risk evaluation exercises, and gamified learning components. Through this platform, students are exposed to realistic workplace situations where they must identify potential hazards, evaluate the level of risk, and propose appropriate control measures. This experiential learning approach encourages critical thinking, active participation, and practical application of OSH knowledge. The development of RiskWise is based on the principles of student-centred learning and technology-enhanced education. The innovation aims to transform traditional OSH teaching by incorporating interactive and problem-based learning strategies that reflect real industry practices. By engaging students in simulated workplace safety scenarios, RiskWise helps bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical safety management skills. This innovation is expected to enhance students’ safety awareness, improve their competency in risk assessment, and create a more engaging learning environment for OSH education. RiskWise has the potential to serve as an effective digital teaching tool that supports modern safety education and prepares students for safer workplace practices.
