Crop losses caused by insect pests threaten agricultural sustainability in Malaysia and Indonesia, worsened by increasing resistance to synthetic insecticides and environmental concerns. This innovation introduces GreenNanoGuard, a botanical nanoemulsion formulated from Piper aduncum (sireh hutan) essential oil and Cymbopogon nardus (serai wangi) hydrosol as an eco-friendly crop protection solution. Produced using low-energy spontaneous emulsification, the nanoemulsion (200–500 nm) showed strong larvicidal activity, delayed development, and effective suppression of Spodoptera frugiperda, Crocidolomia pavonana, and Plutella xylostella in laboratory and field trials. Importantly, it was safe for beneficial organisms. GreenNanoGuard supports integrated pest management and sustainable agriculture while reducing dependence on chemical pesticides.
