The safety and health of workers, especially in small, micro, and medium-sized industries, often receive less attention compared to larger industries. Recognizing the importance of understanding occupational environmental stress within the workplace is critical for maintaining optimal levels of safety and well-being for employees. The workplace environment significantly impacts worker performance, productivity, overall health, and safety. This importance is underscored by the recent amendment to the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (Act 154) by DOSH, Malaysia, emphasizing the need for risk assessments in all workplaces to prevent adverse effects. In response to this imperative, the WorkEase Assessment App has been intricately designed to assess the levels of risk associated with occupational environmental stress, focusing on enhancing workers' comfort in their workplaces. The app calculates and evaluates the Occupational Environmental Stress Assessment (OESA) Index, serving as a handy digital tool for seamless, cross-platform risk assessment on both mobile phones and desktop computers. Successfully tested within the small welding industry, the innovative app is ready for future implementation in small, micro, and medium-sized industries. This allows these sectors to monitor and track their workers' OESA Index, providing essential documentation for future reference in case of workplace incidents. To further enhance and commercialize the app's reliability and usability across various industries, there is a plan to develop a real-time monitoring device that seamlessly integrates with the app in the future. This innovative approach empowers employers to implement targeted strategies, improving the workplace environment and ensuring workers' safety proactively.
