In just 86 days of 2024, there are 42,616 infection cases and 19 deaths due to dengue in Malaysia. Given this situation, mosquito repellent is a powerful defence against mosquitoes. The products existing in the current market are mainly applied to skin, but some of them are irritating after application. Hence, mosquito repellent fabric spray becomes a new alternative. MOSQBYE² is prepared with rose geranium essential oil, tragacanth gum and Triton X-100 by a combination method of ultrasonic and high-speed homogenisation. MOSQBYE² are characterised through dynamic light scattering (DLS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). The repellence efficacy of MOSQBYE² was tested against Aedes aegypti mosquitoes in a modified Excito Chamber. Results presented stable monodisperse nanoparticles and MOSQBYE² was able to repel 98.0% of mosquitoes. These results obtained are useful in healthcare services, especially reducing mosquito-borne diseases proliferation.
