Endodontic treatment is aimed to disinfect and clean the root canal system from pathogen. Sodium Hypochlorite is an active ingredient in Cholox and when we dilute it with water it is a very effective substance for cleaning viruses, bacteria and fungi. But at the same time, Chlorox is a very harmful substances. Chlorox is a Chlorine that contain Sodium Hypochlorite, NaOCl that is normally used for dental usage, for example Endodontic treatment (root treatment) may cause irritation if extruded into periapical tissue at high concentration. First of all, the initial painful swelling may spread to the upper lip, cheek and can be accompanied by bleeding of the skin of the oral mucous membrane. The reason why Chlorox is not suitable for internal usage because Chlorox can induce cancer cell in healthy human and also Chlorox can cause of organ toxicity (liver, lung and kidney). So our project here is to change the Chlorox with Cymbopogon Citratus (lemongrass). Cymbopogon Citratus is anti-inflammation (anti: swelling, redness and pain) due to contain of citral. Cymbopogon Citratus is antibacterial because it possess strong antimicrobial efficacy pathogenic bacteria and fungi. Antimicrobials are medicines used to prevent and treat infections in humans, animals and plants. Calcium in Cymbopogon Ciratus can help to treat muscle cramp. Last but not least, the most importantly it is safe to be swallowed. We had made a comparison between the extraction of the stems and leaves of the Cymbopogon Citratus. The final sudies shows that the stems of Cymbopogon Citratus is more effective compared to the leaves of Cymbopogon Citratus to clean and kill two major bacteria which is E. Faecalis and S. Sanguinis. Therefore, we can see that the teeth Chlorox can be replace with the extraction of the stem of Cymbopogon Citratus because Cymbopogon Citratus effectiveness to kill bacteria is as effective as the Chlorox. Also, Cymbopogan Citratus is more safe and an eco-friendly product to use.
