It is observed that Semester 2 Diploma in Accounting students couldn’t calculate the amount of payable individual or personal income tax accurately during Taxation 1 DBE 3333 lessons. It was deduced that the students’ main problem was their inability to identify and calculate the correct amount of personal tax relief. Consequently , a majority of the students would make mistakes in calculating the payable personal income tax accurately. Hence, an innovative solution, named CX-PeRT ( Calculate Tax Expert ) was developed. It is developed from a case study approach which could be used individually or in a group. It is an educational kit developed using the Fleming Vark learning style that could help improve students’ understanding of calculating payable personal tax and fulfil the needs of variety of students . In addition , it could also be used by responsible Malaysians in carrying out their annual task of calculating their own personal tax. Users can calculate their tax relief fast and with ease.It is user-friendly and at no cost at all. Pre and post-tests have been carried out to proof the effectiveness of this innovation . The outcome of the tests showed that students could accurately produce the payable amount of tax relief. Thus, this innovative idea has been shared with and tested by 10 other Vocational Colleges across Malaysia. The result has been very positively encouraging as it has been reported that the CX-PeRT has aided teachers & students in Taxation 1 DBE 3333 , be it in synchronous or asynchronous lessons.
